Exhibition | Second Chance | Siru Tuomisto

  • Sanctuary Canberra 17 Brockman Street Narrabundah, ACT, 2604 Australia (map)

This exhibition can be seen at the Open Studios weekend from 9-10 November 10am-1pm at Sanctuary Canberra. Siru will be onsite to meet and answer your questions!

Second Chance, an exhibition by Finnish artist Siru Tuomisto, presents assemblage sculptures in which everyday objects have been regenerated into new forms.  This exhibition explores the value of upcycling everyday objects, challenging the viewer to think about how they may reimagine their life by assembling objects of personal significance together in new, unexpected and clever ways. Tuomisto’s artwork challenges the viewer to a deeper relationship with objects, instead of blindly following one-off consumption culture.  A new, deeper approach can make something that was thought to be worn out, boring and ‘so last season’ into bright, fun, playful artworks, worth loving and taking care of.

Tuomisto’s artworks radiate optimism and confidence that positive change is possible, and we can adapt a new more responsible way of life and give ourselves a second chance because … we all deserve ‘a second chance’.

This exhibition is supported by the Embassy of Finland in Australia.

Entry to this exhibition is free | No bookings required
