Karen Cromwell creates hand-built ceramic vessels using traditional methods of coiling and pinching with the addition of sculptural elements. Her distinctive forms explore the historic language of the vessel, and their carved details and textured surfaces often invoke elements of the natural world. Each vessel has a presence grounded in its own unique experience, and when grouped together, her works speak of a shared history, layered, and shifting.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Drawing) from The Victorian College of the Arts, with a Graduate Diploma in Art Education (The University of Melbourne).
